Personal Logo

For this project I thought about how I wanted to communicate a few things about myself. I wanted to convey an interest in design and plans (like orthographic drawings) as well as my aesthetic of clean and dynamic work that is elegant and bold, asymmetrical and engaging. I really like tessellations too because of the consideration each piece has for each other piece/itself and thought that it would be a fun challenge.

Fresh Coffee

I took inspiration for this from hand-painted signs. I saw a particularly unattractive sign recently while riding my bike that reminded me of the hippie doodler style that has become more and more annoying since leaving high school and coming to Eugene. What would my business look like? If I owned a small coffee shop how would I  show the words "fresh coffee" in an alluring and honest way?

Word Studies

I got really into Margaret Kilgallen again when I was thinking about how words and typefaces make us feel. She helped stimulate my interest in folk art and my appreciation for the evidence of the hand technique that feels so much richer than ultra-clean, almost humanless commercial image/text.
